Watermelon talk at Knox Chamber meeting....



     Members of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce were the first to hear Illiana Watermelon Queen Sydney Vieck's speech which she'll give at the national Watermelon Queen Pageant next month.
   Vieck, a USI student and South Knox grad gave her talk at the Chambers' monthly breakfast bandwagon today (Wednesday). 
   The speech focused on growing up on a watermelon farm and the benefits and lessons learned that last throughout a lifetime.
   Illiana Watermelon Association President Carrie Smith also addressed the crowd and talked briefly about food safety.
   Smith said last year's salmonella outbreak traced to cantaloupe in southern Indiana made all growers enhance their food borne illness policies and procedures....
   Smith also told attendents that this year's national watermelon conventioni March 8th and 9th at Casino Aztar in Evansville.
